In Compliance with the Dutch SSVV WFPr Version 2.3:2016
SSVV WFPr version 2.3-2016 sets the requirements for safe and competent work on flange connections in Dutch companies affiliated with the SSVV. ELCONY offers training that aligns with these guidelines so employers can demonstrate their employees work safely and professionally.
Target Group
This flange mechanic course is designed for industrial personnel responsible for opening and closing flange connections according to a set protocol. This is essential for ensuring safety and accuracy in work environments such as the petrochemical industry and refineries.
Learning Objective
Participants learn how to open and close flange connections safely and responsibly, with an emphasis on applying the correct tightening torque in accordance with established protocols.
Theory
Basic concepts of flange connections.
Overview of relevant legislation.
General and specific safety rules.
Technical knowledge of flanges, bolts, gaskets, and assembly materials.
Use of tools and measuring instruments for flange work.
Practical
Safety rules and preparation for flange work.
Correct working posture, use of equipment, disassembly, cleaning, alignment, and tightening of flanges.
Inspection and completion of the work performed.
Admission Requirements
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
A valid VCA or SCC certificate is required.
Exam Languages
The exam is available in Dutch and English.
Course Duration
1 day if prior knowledge is available through our online course or refresher course.
2 days without our online course and without any previous experience.
Diploma
Registration in the Central Diploma Register (Centraal Diplomaregister – SSVV).
Valid for 5 years.
Course costs
€ 255.00 + € 74.00 SOG exam fees.

Basic Flange Fitter
In Compliance with the European Standard EN 1591-4:2013 (Module 1)
EN 1591-4 (no statutory certification) describes safe working on flange connections, but there is no official exam recognized by the government or NEN. Therefore, ELCONY offers an EN 1591-4 course with a test, enabling employers to demonstrate that employees can work on flange connections safely and competently.

Advanced Flange Fitter
In Compliance with the American Standard ASME PCC-1:2022
ASME PCC-1 (no statutory certification) describes safe working on flange connections, but there is no official exam recognized by the government or ASME. Therefore, ELCONY offers an ASME PCC-1 course with a test, allowing employers to demonstrate compliance with the Working Conditions Act and ensuring safe working practices.
Target Group
This advanced course is intended for experienced flange mechanics who open and close flange connections according to strict protocols, using hand tools and a mechanical torque wrench. The course covers specific work instructions, the relationship between gasket pressure and bolt forces, misalignment, and the use of lubricants, among other topics.
Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. Recognition
For VCA-certified companies, employees working on flange connections must have a diploma from the SSVV Training Guide. In addition, the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. requires a supplementary diploma recognized by them. ELCONY is a recognized trainer and is listed in the “Werkinstructie Flensverbindingen” of the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. This diploma serves as proof of training and must be presented to Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. upon request.

Adherence to the flange protocol.
Practical
Opening and closing flange connections according to the applicable protocol.
Inspecting gasket surfaces and bolts, including the selection of suitable gaskets.
Accurately aligning flanges and measuring any misalignment.
Applying the prescribed gasket pressure, with or without an electronic gasket pressure gauge.
Interpreting measured values such as gasket pressure, bolt force, and misalignment.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and have experience in flange assembly.
