Working as a Safety Attendant (Manhole Watch) (SOG)

Target Group

Employees in the industry who, on a (petro)chemical site, supervise workers performing activities in a confined space.

Learning Objective

Being able to supervise work in a confined space and respond appropriately in an emergency situation.

Theory

General (basic concepts).
Legislation (Arbowet).
Safety:
General safety and environmental rules.
Specific risks.
Communication.
Measures for safe working.
Work permit.
Alarm situation.

Practical Training

Preparation (work permit and communication tools).
Execution: At the confined space (escape route, surroundings and exterior of the confined space, support tools).
Execution: Work in the confined space (supervision, access and attendance control).
Execution: Closing the confined space (alarm situation, leaving the space in a safe condition).

Entry Requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years old. An exception is made for students attending the course as part of obtaining an initial qualification. For them, the minimum age is 16.
In addition, participants must hold one of the following certificates: B-VCA, VOL-VCA, VIL-VCU, SCC-17, or SCC-18.

Exam Language

The SOG exam is only available in Dutch.

Course Duration

1 day (2 sessions) + online preparation (1 session).
Refresher: 1 day (2 sessions).

Certificate

According to the SSVV Training Guide (SOG).
Validity: 3 years.
Successful participants are registered in the Central Certificate Register: cdr.ssvv.nl

€ 245.00 per person. For in-company sessions, a minimum of 6 participants is required.
€ 115.00 per person SOG exam fees.
