Working with independent respiratory protection (SOG)
Target group
Employees who carry out work in an environment where the atmosphere has sufficient oxygen (≥ 19.0%) and no or very low concentrations of hazardous substances (below the relevant limit values).
Learning objective
The learning objective is that these employees learn how to safely and effectively use environment-independent respiratory protection.
Theory
General: basic concepts, application limits, and emergency situations.
Legislation: Arbowet and other relevant legal provisions.
Safety: safety rules.
Technical skills: types of respiratory protection equipment and their application.
Practical
Preparation of the breathing apparatus: working safely and hygienically and preparing the apparatus for use.
Execution with the breathing apparatus: putting it into use, carrying out the task, checking the residual pressure, and removing the apparatus.
Preparation of the airline system: working safely and hygienically and preparing the system for use.
Execution with the airline system: putting it into use, carrying out the task, and taking the system out of service.
Entry requirements
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
A valid VCA or SSC diploma is required.
The candidate must not have obstructive facial hair or wear obstructive jewelry.
Exam languages
The SOG exam is available in Dutch and English.
Medical fitness
The employer must ensure a valid medical certificate for working with independent respiratory protection; this is required during training and examination, and the certificate is only valid in combination with this medical statement.
Course duration
1 day if prior knowledge was obtained via our online course or refresher course.
2 days without our online course and without prior experience.
Diploma
Valid for 3 years.
Registration in the Central Diploma Register (cdr.ssvv.nl).
Course costs
€ 255.00 + € 74.00 SOG exam fees.
€ 70.00 surcharge for the exam in English.

Working with an independent respiratory protection system (ELCONY)
Target group
Employees who perform tasks in an environment where the atmosphere has sufficient oxygen (≥ 19.0%) and does not contain or only contains very low concentrations of hazardous substances (below the relevant limits).
Learning objective
The learning objective is for these employees to learn how to use environment-independent respiratory protection devices safely and effectively.
Theory
General: basic concepts, application limits, and emergency situations.
Legislation: Arbowet and other relevant legislative provisions.
Safety: safety rules.
Special technique: types of respiratory protection devices and their use.
Practice
Preparation of the respiratory device: safe and hygienic work and preparing the device for use.
Execution with the respiratory device: starting operation, performing the task, checking residual pressure, and removing the device.
Preparation of the air supply system: safe and hygienic work and preparing the system for use.
Execution with the air supply system: starting operation, performing the task, and deactivating the system.
Participation requirements
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
A valid VCA or SSC diploma is required.
The candidate must not have obstructive facial hair or wear jewelry that hinders a proper fit.
Exam languages
The ELCONY exam is available in Arabic, Bulgarian, German, English, French, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Croatian, Lithuanian, Dutch, Ukrainian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Czech, and Turkish.
